124 A COLLECTION OF ITEMS RELATING TO PEARL MACKAY, COMPRISING:

- Her Cuman na mban member badge, white metal with rifle motif,

- A copy of her Military Pension application, dated 2 May 1935 and

- 3 silver Irish language medals awarded to Pearl, one dated‘1913’ stamped; and a

small collection of equipment.

Pearl Mackay, nee Quinn, d. 1960, was a dedicated member of Cumann na mBan for

which she was awarded the service medal in 1933. She went on to found a branch of

theWhite Cross in Gowran, Co. Kilkenny in 1920.

123 A 1917-1921 ‘COGADH NA SAOIRSE’ WAR OF INDEPENDENCE BRONZE SERVICE MEDAL,

on black and tan ribbon with decorated clasp, with fitted box, awarded to Pearl

Mackay Quinn in 1933 for her services to Cuman na mBan.

122 A 1917-1921 ‘COGADH NA SAOIRSE’ WAR OF INDEPENDENCE BRONZE SERVICE MEDAL

with ‘Comrac’ bar, on black and tan ribbon with decorated clasp, issued to John

Lynch; together with a Saorstat Eireann ArrestWarrant by order of the Minister of

Defence for John Lynch of Dungarvin Co.Waterford, dated‘August 9th, 1923’ and

signature printed‘Risteard Ua Maolchatha, Minster of Defence’. (2)

121 OGLAIGH NA HEIREANN (IRISH VOLUNTEERS),

a very unusual white metal signet ring with pierced centrepiece engraved with the

words ‘Oglaigh na hEireann’ in a circle surrounding the letters ‘FF’ [Fianna Fail: Sol-

iders of Ireland], the entire within a sunburst, similar to IrishVolunteers cap badge

circa 1915, handcrafted and undated.
