65 WESTMEATH FAMINE, 1847

Petition, stamped and posted at Kilbeggan, February 1847, addressed to Dublin

solicitor, from 11 tenants on the small town land of Grange-Kiltober, Parish of

Kilbeggan.

States that they “suffered... the total destruction of their potato crop” and “they are

entirely destitute of seed to crop the land for the ensuing season”.The petitioners re-

quest the addressee to use influence with their landlord to authorise rent abatement

and supply of seed. Ink on laid paper
