of Irelandborn into theAnglo-IrishAscendancymost likelyat hishomewhich
isnow theMerrionHotel,Dublin.Hewasa leadingmilitaryandpolitical figure
of the 19th century. He famously defeatedNapoleon at the Battle ofWaterloo
andwasCommander-in-Chief of theBritishArmyuntil his death.Hewas aslo
twice British primeminister under the Tory party and oversaw the passage of
theCatholicReliefAct, 1829.

pressed glass circular saucer, 12.5cm diameter and dish, 17cm diameter, by
Henry Greener, with lozenge registration mark, c.1869. Henry Greener ac-
quired theWear Flint GlassWorks in partnershipwith and James Angus and
traded asAngus&Greener, but following the deathofAngus in 1869, Greener
continuedmaking pressed glass under the name ofHenryGreenerWear Flint
GlassWorks.TheGladstone for theMillion teadesignswere the first registered
designs under this new name. They began to produce them in 1869 to com-
memorateGladstone’s appointment asPrimeMinister. (2)
