Dublin c.1767, mark of Richard Williams, the plain ovoid bodies

with central girdle and engaged scallop cresting, applied with

acanthus wrapped twin scroll handles, and raised on circular

Edinburgh 1903, mark of Brook & Son,

of circular form, the banded body with applied strap work and

raised on circular spreading foot, inscribed “Tweebosch” and “7th

March 1902”, (c.2301g). 40cm diameter over handlesThe Battle of

Tweebosch occurred on 7th March 1902 during the final months

of the Second Boer War when a Boer commando led by Koos

de la Rey defeated a Britich column under the command of

Lieutenant General Lord Methuen.
