Birmingham 1966 hallmarks, the square form, engine turned hinged cover with crest
and motto “FIAT LUX LUX FIEBAT” (let there be light), and with applied enam-
elled coat of arms, timber lined interior, one of the sides engraved with the inscription:
“This contained the Key of/ The Raymond F. Brooke Memorial Building/ opened by/ Rt.
Hon. The Earl of Donoughmore, GrandMaster/ 24

Originally built in 1790 by the Powell family, Richview Lodge, currently UCD’s School of
Architecture, in Clonskeagh, was once the home of theMasonic School for Boys between
1885-1980. Itwasbought by theFreemasonsof Ireland in1885,whoover theyears expanded
the building to accommodate increasing pupil numbers. In 1969 a science block was built
andnamed after theGrandMaster “RaymondF. Brooke”, this boxheld thekey to thedoor.
