enor Fenner collidedwith the steamer 'TheNottingham', and engraved
with initials anddated1845. Carrying107mostly Irish emigrants and17
crew, 122weredrowned. TheGovenor Fennerwas owned andbuilt inNew
York andwasNewYorkbound at the timeof the accident, 11cm tall

TheMonumentCreamerieswere started in1918byTipperarymanSeamusRyan
andhiswifeAgnes. Starting inParnell St andnamed for theParnellmonument,
theCreamerieswent on togrow to a total of 33outlets.
Ryanhadbeen a supporter of Redmond inhis early years, but later andpossibly
under the influence of his wife, he became increasingly sympathetic of the Re-
publicancause. It cannot beacoincidence thathiswife,whowas fromSolohead-
beg, must have had family connection to Sean Treacy also from Soloheadbeg,
originallyViceOCof the SouthTipperaryBrigade. Treacyoperated aworkshop
from theMonumentCreameriesusing thebutterdispatchedaround thecountry
to transport dispatches and ammunitionduring theWar of IndependenceTrea-
cywaseventually shotby theBritisha shortdistanceawayonTalbotStreet.After
the Treaty, Ryan became a fundraiser and supporter of Fianna Fail. Elected to
theSeanad in1931, aheadof the1932electionwhichproved sopivotal forFianna
Fail. Ryandied suddenly in1933.
