Meji Period (1868-1912),
the interior painted with two vibrant four-claw dragons in opposing position,
picked out in white enamel against a turquoise ground of heaped formal waves,
inside a gilt rim border, the exterior enamelled with groups of scattered waves,
the base marked in gilt characters, ‘The Great Japan, Hizen Arita, Fukagawa’
