mark of Joseph Johns (fl.1731-75) of Limerick, marked “STERLING”, the
shaped circular pie-crust rim, enclosing plain central reserve, crested and with
motto “THROUGH”, probably that of the Hamilton family crest, raised on
three shell feet (scratch weight “9-10” and numbered “No.1”, c.8ozs). 18.5cm
