The letter reads: “ Dear Mr. McCarthy, I return slip - signed as requested. Early in

1922 I became Chief of Staff, with Rank of General succeeding General Mulca-

hy.............success in your interesting and valuable work.” Signed & dated by

O’Duffy Feb 9th, 1940; together with copy photograph of a picture of O’Duffy.
