Born in Cheshire in 1931, Barrie Cooke spent his childhood in Jamaica and Bermuda be-
fore reading Art History at Harvard. He settled in County Clare in 1954. His expressionist,
semi-abstract paintings are influenced by his love of nature, especially of marine subjects,
and his exposure to many landscapes across the globe.
