Provenance: Netley Hall and Linley Hall, Shropshire

Louisa Charlotte Knyvett, eldest daughter of Colonel Francis

Knyvett of Bausley, Salop, married Thomas Henry Hope Edwardes

on the 23rd April 1833.

Their home, Netley Hall, Dorrington, Shrewsbury, was built by

Thomas Henry Hope Edwardes in 1855 on the site of a former

mansion which was pulled down. Francis Leach in his book ‘Coun-

try Seats of Shropshire’ (Shrewsbury 1891) makes reference on

page 179 to; ‘In the morning room, lighted by a large bay window,

are portraits of the late T.H. Hope-Edwardes Esq and his widow’.

Thomas Henry Hope Edwardes also built the church in Dorrington

in 1845.
