“Mount’s Bay Cornwall” and “St Michael’s Mount,

Cornwall”

A pair, oil on canvas, each 24 x 39.25cm

The former signed, the latter unsigned. Each

inscribed with title verso, the latter also inscribed:

“Hervey Bruce Derek Clark Collection, Town Country

Sale, Dublin 19-9-56”.

Charles Thornley exhibited marine paintings at the

RA from Paddington, London, during the period

1859-1898. He signed with a number of aliases such

as William Thornley, or variations of the surname

Thornberry.
