The title Viscount Lifford was created in 1781 for the
1st Baron Lifford who was Lord Chancellor of Ireland. It
is thought that this portrait is of the wife of the second
Viscount who was Dean of Armagh 1796 - 1830. The
family seat was Meenglass House, near Stranorlar in Co.
Donegal.
