31 A GEORGE IV SILVER RECTANGULAR SNUFF BOX,

London 1820, mark possibly that of William Eley, the hinged lid

and base, with engine turned decoration, and having an incised

disk engraved with a running hound and (illegible) motto, the

sides with reeded banding, the gilded interior with inscrip-

tion “Presented by the Foreman Taylors Society to William

Saunderson in concurrence of their unanimous resolution at a

general meeting held on the 1st January 1821 as a testimony

of regard for his...services as their Secretary from their first

Establishment”. 7.4 x 4.7cm

32 AN EARLY 18TH CENTURY SILVER RECTANGULAR SNUFF BOX,

probably English, with hinged lid, engraved with a coat of arms,

and two bands of continuous discs and having moulded reeded

rims, the interior gilded, the base with Latin inscription “’Ex

Dono Charissim Amic’ (‘From the gift of my dearest friend’)

/ 1707 / Wm Walcot de Oundle / 1710”. illegible makers mark,

possibly WI, inside. 7.5 x 5 x 1.5cm deep
