A RARE “COUNTY OF MEATH IMPERIAL
STANDARD” BRONZE BELL WEIGHT
for 56lbs, inscribed and stamped numerously “C.M.”
and again with “WR WS” beneath a crown, 26.5cm high,
18cm diameter.
These Imperial Standard weights, first defined in the
British Weights and Measures Act of 1824, were used
to ensure all businesses, etc. would weigh their goods
correctly.
