TWO JAPANESE BRONZED METAL JARDINIERES,
Meji period, the larger with lobed rim above a tapering body cast
with lotus pods, foliage and mythical bird in a landscape, 45cm
diameter; the other with lobed rim, collar with Greek key band
interspersed by elephant masks, the tapering body with shaped
oval reserves filled with birds and floral decoration, on a banded
foot, 37cm diameter
Provenance: Pádraig Mac Manus (1864 - 1929) Republican activist
and journalist, Rossylongan House, Donegal and Argentina and
thence by descent
