A MAGNIFICENT AND LARGE SILVER GILT TWIN
HANDLED CUP,
in the style of Paul de Lamerie, London 1901, mark of D & S over
W, with lavish stepped cover, pineapple finial, scrolling bands on
fish scale ground interposed by cartouches, the lipped rim above a
ribbed body later engraved “
Kempton Park The Coventry Foxhunters
Steeplechase 5th March 1925. Won by Mr T.K. Laidlaw’s Foxfoot
”,
above opposing lion masks in high relief, bearing trailing vines spill-
ing from their mouths, within scroll reserves on a truncated shaped
orange peel ground, raised on a shaped circular foot, with wyvern
fluting and corresponding decoration, the body with twin applied
prominent female therm handles (weight over 100ozs). 54cm high
