48 60 A SMALL TURQUOISE MATRIX ARCHAISTIC LIDDED VASE OF ARCHAISTIC HU SHAPE CHINA, LATE QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY Carved out of a blue turquoise matrix. It rests on a recessed ring foot and has a flattened baluster body surmounted by a waisted shoulder flanked by two foliate handles. It is topped by a removable lid with a large bead finial. It is carved with a decor of taotie masks laid out in supersposed registers. H: 10 cm Weight: 120 grams € 1,500 - 3,000 61 A ROCK CRYSTAL INCENSE BURNER OR CENSER AND COVER CHINA, QING DYNASTY, MAYBE 18TH CENTURY AND QIANLONG PERIOD Carved out of an almost flawless stone. It rests on three round feet and has a compressed globular body. It is topped by a dome-shaped lid with a finial shaped as a chrysanthemum flower. It is flanked by two handles also shaped as chrysanthemum flowers and combined with loose ring handles. The body is carved in low relief with chrysanthemum flowers and leaves. The inner part is well hollowed. H: 9,5 cm Weight: 507 grams Provenance: - a private collection; - purchased from a prominent family collection in the 1930s, Montevideo, Uruguay (by repute). € 3,000 - 5,000 59 *A TURQUOISE SCHOLAR ROCK, GONGSHI CHINA, LATE QING DYNASTY TO REPUBLIC / MINGUO PERIOD Vertically orientated, carved in imitation of a scholar’s rock and evocative of mountain peaks, the turquoise matrix has an uneven surface and is pierced with large circular openings.
