118 214 PROPERTIES FROM A NOTED COLLECTOR OF CHINESE EXPORT SILVER *A LARGE CHINESE EXPORT SILVER ‘DRAGON’ TWO-HAN- DLED COMMEMORATIVE CUP OR TROPHY BY CHEONG SHING CHINA, SHANGHAI OR CANTON / GUANGZHOU, EARLY 20TH CENTURY This commemorative cup rests on a spread foot, has a round body and his flanked by two C-form handles. It is finely chiselled and deeply worked in repousse ton depict a flying flour- claw dragon whose body is coiled around the cup and two further leaping dragons, whose arched bodies shape the handles. The base bears two (2) marks: the first one made up of two (2) Chinese ideograms; the second one reading ‘Cheong Shing’. This piece is sold together with a partially open-worked wooden stand engraved with a Chinese inscription to the base. Its central part is nicely and naturalistically chis- elled with peonies against a guilloche ground whilst its wing it open-worked with a design of bamboo. The base bears three (3) marks: the first one is ‘90’ probably for the grade of sil- ver used; the second one is ‘ 廣信隆 ’ (guǎng xìnlóng), possibly the maker mark; the third is ‘KC’. H: 23,8 cm Gross weight: 295,5 grams - The second piece is a Chinese export silver box and cover of rectangular shape adorned on four (4) sides as well as on the top of the lid with a fine repousse décor of medallions circum- scribing birds and flowers against guilloche grounds. It may have been originally partially gilded. The base bears a mark reading ‘金品’ ( jīn pǐn), lit. ‘gold’. H: 7,4 cm - L: 14 cm - width: 9,3 cm Weight: 356 grams - The third piece is a finely made filigree and enamelled card holder adorned with flowers and dragons.
