106 180 A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN ‘ICE CRACKING’ POT OF CIRCULAR FORM CHINA, LATE QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY It rests on a short unglazed ring foot and has a circular body molded with bands and applied with four bamboo-shaped handles by pairs. The outer part is adorned with an ice-cracking plum pattern reserved against a cobalt blue ground. It is topped by a lated dome-shaped wooden lid open-worked with three ruyi and topped by a jade finial. H (lid excluded): 14,5 cm H (lid and finial included): 23 cm D: 16,5 cm € 600 - 800 181 A TURQUOISE-GLAZED PORCELAIN ‘DAOIST TRIGRAMS - BAGUA - 八卦 ’ PORCELAIN CONG VASE CHINA, POSSIBLY LATE QING DYNASTY It rests on a ring foot and has an elongated square body surmount- ed by a short neck with an everted rim. It is molded with a Daoist trigrams or Bagua ( 八卦 ) as well as different ideograms including ‘Shou’ ( 寿 ), lit. ‘Longevity’. H: 17,8 cm “ 八卦 ” 青瓷琮式瓶 中国 € 300 - 500 182 A TURQUOISE-GLAZED ‘BAGUA’ PORCELAIN VASE OF ARCHAISTIC CONG SHAPE CHINA, POSSIBLY LATE QING DYNASTY It has a central circular section, i.e. for the foot and the rim, combined with a rectangular shaped body. It is either molded or carved with Daoist tantric trigrams also known as Bagua. It is all covered with a turquoise glaze with the exception of the base which has been left unglazed. H: 15,5 cm - Side: 7,5 cm Note: A basic concept of the Qing Dynasty is the ‘trigram’. A trigram is a three-lined symbol. Each of the three lines in a trigram can either be continuous or broken. A straight line represents the yang ( 阳 ) and a broken line represents the yin ( 阴 ). There are eight possible combina- tions of these trigram components and these combinations are known as the eight trigrams or bagua ( 八卦 ). € 400 - 600 179A A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN ‘EIGHT TREASURES OF BUDDHISM’ TULIPIER CHINA, LATE QING DYNASTY, LATE 19TH CENTURY It consists of vive elongated egg-shaped vases conjoined and linked together with a central long tubular neck with an evert- ed rim. It is painted in underglaze cobalt blue with lotus scrolls as well as with the Eight Treasures of Buddhism symbols.
