How to buy at Adam’s
Viewing
Viewing is the first step. You can browse our cata-
logues online and viewing the electronic flip cata-
logue is a great way to get a feel for what is on offer.
The online catalogues also frequently provide ad-
ditional imagery or information. Alternatively, you
can subscribe to our posted fully illustrated cata-
logues which will be delivered to your home in the
old fashioned way.
Catalogue Descriptions
All lots are described to provide information on
their age, materials of construction and method of
decoration. The description may also provide infor-
mation on the history or provenance of the item.
Estimates
All lots carry estimates in a range of values. Esti-
mates are in Euro and reflect the anticipated price
and are related to prices for comparable lots sold
previously.
Condition Reports
These reports are additional to the information
provided in the catalogue. They provide a service
for buyers who cannot attend a viewing in person,
providing guidance on a lot’s condition.
Catalogue Subscriptions
Why not have our catalogue delivered directly to your home, we
offer a range of subscription options
Bidding
There are many ways that Adam’s can facilitate your
bidding. Eachmethod requires registration. This can
be done online by creating a ‘My Adam’s’ account on
our website, or by registering directly through our
office in person or over the telephone. If you have
not previously registered to bid, legislation requires
that you provide photographic identification by way
of Passport or Driving Licence.
Buyers premium of
20% plus VAT is payable on the hammer price of
all successful bids at auction.
Bidding Live
Our online bidding service allows you to see and
hear the auction in progress from the comfort of
your home or office. By registering online you can
take part, all you have to do is click to bid.
Telephone Bidding
This connects you directly to a member of the Ad-
am’s team in the auction room, who will guide you
through the process of live telephone bidding. The
team member will relay the bidding back and forth
and bid on your behalf.
Written Bids
If you cannot attend the auction or use one of the
methods outlined earlier, you may leave a written
commission bid. A written bid is a maximum figure
which you would be prepared to bid. These bids are
executed by the auction clerk on your behalf. The
bidding follows the bids in the room or online until
such time as you are successful or your bid is over-
taken. The clerk will purchase the lot at the lowest
possible price, subject to any reserve and interest
from other bidders up to your maximum bid.
You can now leave absentee bids through our web
site by registering for a “My Adam’s” account.
For more information or advice on leaving com-
mission bids contact a member of our team at 01
6760261.
