MacDonnell a native of San Pedro, Buenos Aires Province, whose parents came from County Clare. It is believed the photograph was taken in 1906. Fr. McDonnell
took over as editor of The Southern Cross from William Bulfin. Bulfin returned to Ireland in 1909 and died here in 1910. There are four letters from him to
