A box containing a collection of circa 35 booksmostly fromDe
Valera’scollectionasayoungman,manyon the theoryof educa-
tion, others relating to logic andphilosophy, a few in Irish, some
withDeValera’smanuscript signature, otherswithhisbookplate
and/or initials, one inscribed to him, one also with stamp ‘Ed-
warddeValera’, a few alsowith the stampofMellifontAbbey in
Collon, Co. Louth; one (Joyce’s Principles of Logic) with a long
manuscript ‘Prayer of St. Th[omas] Aq[uinas] To the B.V.M.’ in
De Valera’s hand inside front cover. Also a copy of a green pa-
per on ‘The Restoration of the Irish Language’ [1965], with an
ALS onDail paper fromDanBreenTD to Fr. Colmcille laid in,
commenting on Churchill’s illness [this itemwith no apparent
DeValera connection]. It isunderstood thatmost of thesebooks
were given byDeValera to a religious friendwho sharedhis in-
terest in education and philosophy. Condition varies, generally
