As a transcendent bodhisattva, he patiently awaits the right moment to descend to the human realm and fulfil his role of guiding all beings to ultimate awakening. Until then, he abides in the celestial realm of Tushita, where he continues to teach the Dhar- ma. Many devotees aspire to be reborn in this state. The bronze figure depicts Maitreya as a teacher seated in dig- nified stillness, with hands poised in a mudra. 弥勒是未来佛，也被视为此一世界周期中最后将降世的佛陀。作为 一位超越凡尘的伟大菩萨，他静待时机成熟，终将降生人间，引导 众生走向圆满的觉悟与解脱。在这段等待的时光中，弥勒住于兜率 天，为诸天善众持续讲授佛法。无数修行者发愿往生兜率，期望在 那殊胜清净的境界中迅速精进，缩短成佛之路。这尊铜像正体现 了弥勒的这一天界导师形象：他安坐于讲法之姿，神情庄严，双手 结印，象征佛法如流水般由他展开，普被听众。 369 A BLACKSTONE STELE OF AVALOKITESHVARA 尼泊尔马拉王朝 13-14世纪观音石雕像 Nepal, Mala period, 13-14th century The divine Avalokiteshvara stands with left hand holding a blooming lotus, its stem curling delicately around her upper arm. The lotus at her shoulder symbolizes the po- tential for all beings to attain enlightenment, no matter their past, her right hand forms the varada mudra, the gesture of granting wishes, with open fingers before a blossoming flower. She wears a tall, triple-pointed crown upon her head, and is adorned with floral necklaces, heavy earrings, and armlets. A richly decoratedmandorla frames her fig- ure, incised with flame motifs and beaded borders. She stands serenely on a lotus pedestal, while two reverent figures kneel in devotion at her feet.
