256 225 A RARE JADE BIRD-FORM HAIR ORNAMENT 石家河文化白玉紅沁鷹紋笄 SHIJIAHE CULTURE, CIRCA 2500-2000 BC The tapering hair ornament is carved to the top with a mythical bird with wings folded at the back. The brown- ish stone is of a yellowish-brown tone with some russet veining and inclusions. There are two small circular aper- tures around the mid-section of the ornament drilled for suspension.
