19th century, Qing Dynasty, of shallow circular form, painted to

the centre with songbirds amongst reeds and flowers, below

poetic diction, the flared circular foot with a band of stiff leaves,

the underside with four character reign mark. 14cm diameter;

together with a smaller matching example; and a very near com-

panion piece. (3)

249 A JAPANESE KUTANI PORCELAIN FIGURAL VASE,

late 19th century, painted in the traditional red, gilt and turquoise

tones, the rimmounted with toper figures holding a bowl and

ladle, the body painted with turtles scouring a sea bed, and dig-

nitaries by the coast, raised by three supporting figures, the base

with a linear six character mark and remnants of old label. 29.5cm

high
