tortoiseshell brisé fan decorated with chinoiserie scenes in

gilt tones, and a French example with a wooden framework

decorated with painted pugs in an interior fighting for a ball

and inscribed ‘La Lutte pour la ballon’, and a carved ivory brisé

fan (8).
