The foot is similarly carved as a downturned floral bloom. It is flanked by two handles shaped as bats together with loose rings. The jade stone has been very finely carved so it has a semi-translucent or diaphanous aspect. Offered at auction together with a parcel reticulated wooden stand. H: 3,9 cm - L: 17,8 cm Weight: 200 grams 莫卧儿风格双柄大婚玉碗 中国，清代，18或19世纪 € 2,000 - 4,000 7 PROPERTIES FROM A NOTED COLLECTION OF JADES AND SNUFFBOTTLES *A FINE SOAPSTONE ‘TIGER TAMING LUOHAN’ aka PINDO- LA 賓頭盧 CHINA, QING DYNASTY This figure of an ascetic arhat has been carved out of a soapstone of pinkish colors further enhanced with painted polychromed parts. Pindola is depicted seated in royal ease (rajalalisana), loosely dressed in a simple dhoti, holding a sutra scroll in his right hand and a tiger in his left hand below which are books. He has a tonsured head, elongated earlobes and a smiling expression which contrasts with his emaciated body with veins, ribs and knobbly spine. The base is inscribed with a two-character mark that may have been originally completed by two further ideograms not visible anymore. It is also inscribed in red with what seems to be an old inventory collection number: ‘HC - 413’ (?). H: 11,5 cm Weight: 41,26 cm 伏虎罗汉石刻 中国，明中期至晚期，18-19世纪 € 1,000 - 2,000 8 PROPERTIES FROM A NOTED COLLECTION OF JADES AND SNUFFBOTTLES *A WHITE JADE TRIPOD CENSER OR INCENSE BURNER AND COVER CHINA, QING DYNASTY Supported by three channeled cabriole legs surmounted by lion masks, the steep rounded sides rising to a broad shoulder flanked by dragon-mask handles suspending large loose-ring handles below, together with a domed cover, the white stone with a high polish.
