The lower gradient part, of waisted shape, is intricately reticulated with lotus scrolls and ruyi combined with baluster vases in the rounds. It is further enhanced with a possibly boxwood gallery. The middle part is a flat one, where would have stood the jade vase, and is encircled by a zitan gallery. It is also surmounted by two long poles coming together on their top. The upper part is centered by a Shou (longevity) character flanked by two confronted leaping dragons which bodies are coiled over the poles. It is finely carved with numerous characters amidst pavilions in a landscape. Original red and yellow cotton thread attached to the end of the grasp. Bearing an handwritten old collector label reading “Mme RIM- SKY KORSAKOF”. Lingzhi ( 灵芝 ), also known as the glossy ganoderma, is the sacred fungus of im- mortality that grows on the trunks or roots of trees including the pine. Lingzhi is referred to as the fungus of immortality.
