58 Tuesday 24th April 94 LETTER FROM DANIEL O’CONNELL M.P toWilliam Murphy, dated 24th January 1837, regarding the potential candidates for County Dublin in the upcoming General Elections. Lord Fitzsimons, who was Daniel O’Connell’s son-in-law was one of two MPs elected for the County of Dublin in 1833. However, as O’Connell informs Mr. Murphy, Fitzsimons will not stand again and so he suggests two potential replacements, the respective sons of Lord Cloncurry or Lord Meath. O’Connell ensuresWilliam that he will secure his seat for Kilkenny and if necessary for Dublin but this should be used as a last resort remarking ‘ Understand me - I do not wish for this,personally ’ ; together with another letter fromTerence O’Brien, dated July 26th 1833 to Mr Mills in relation to a sum of money owed to Mr O’Brien.
