57 The History Sale 90 FINE DINING IN DROGHEDA C.1787 M.S.S. in ink folio 4 pps.With the names of dishes written-out in diametrical fashion, headed first course/second course and inscribed, “ table of 12” - “part of the dinner intended for the *Duke of Rutland, in Drogheda .” The first courses have 11 and 15 dishes of meat, fowl and fish, the second courses have 11 and 15 dishes of jellies, pastry, blamanges etc. but also roast game. 330 x 240 (previously folded); together with Diagram of twenty-two meat dishes to set a table for dinner and removes i.e. turbot and soals/ remove/ fricassee of coxcombs, 18th century, single sided 210 x 155 (previously folded). (2) Charles Manners 4th Duke of Rutland, Lord Lieutenant 1784. He entertained magnificently.
