‘Saltwater Ballads’, FIRST EDITION, Grant Richard 1902. The Poem “Tarry Buccaneer” is dedicated
to Jack B. Yeats after John Masefield had seen a copy of James Flaunty and Jack B. Yeats wrote to
his friend J. C. Miles to tell him about it. The letter to Miles, Jan 1903, with a stencil and waterco-
lour “250 miles to London” and a good pen and ink drawing, and a note in Masefield’s hand is also
inserted at the front “The days that make us happy make us wise ”signed J Masefield.
