Keith Wilson was born in Belfast, in 1971. He studied at the University of Ulster and at Ed-
inburgh College of Art, Scotland, gaining an Honours Degree and a further Postgraduate Di-
ploma in 1995. He returned to Ireland in 1995 and in 1999 was invited by the Ballinglen Arts
Foundation in County Mayo to take up a six week painting residency and, having completed
this, since 2000 he has been living in and working from a rural home studio in North Mayo.
He has held numerous solo exhibitions throughout Ireland and has taken part in many group
shows at home and in the UK as well as various exhibitions in Europe and the USA.Awards in-
clude the AXA Drawing prize at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 2005, the Hennessy-Craig
Scholarship Award in 2006, also at the RHA. In 2006 he was elected an Associate Member
of the Royal Ulster Academy, Belfast, subsequently becoming a full member. During 2009 he
spent three months as artist in residence at the new RHA studios in Dublin. In 2010 he was
awarded Mayo County Council’s Bursary Award to take up a residency at the Tyrone Guthrie
Centre in Co. Monaghan.
