69 97 A GEM-SET BANGLE WATCH, BY BUECHE-GIROD & GAY FRÈRES, CIRCA 1970 The hinged bangle terminating with roaring leopard’s heads decorated with circular-cut ruby for eyes and black enamel spots, both holding on to an oval-shaped textured gold case, of 17-jewels manual wind movement, the cream dial with black hands signed Bueche-Girod, movement signed, clasp with partial maker’s mark for ‘Gay Frères’,mounted in 18K gold, case no.YG7772, 101694, inner length approximately 17.5cm, inner diameter approximately 6.3cm € 3,000 - 5,000 Bueche-Girod was founded in 1937 by A.Bueche and mixed two separate forms of business; first, completing orders for car manufacturers and second producing jewellery watches. Unusually, and rare for the time, the company created white gold watches. By the 1970’s Bueche-Girod was a thriving business and was able to concentrate solely on the high-end luxury market, creating small collections. The fine watches Bueche-Girod created meshed high-quality materials of gold and precious stones with expert mechanisms.
