The Ceylon (Sri Lanka) Sapphire is revered for its beautiful colour blue. Geographically Sri Lanka

is an important source of coloured sapphires. However, the king amongst these is the Ceylon blue

sapphire. It’s a unique chemistry which results in a characteristic body colour and internal silkiness

synonymous with the exotic island.

Historically sapphire has undergone heat treatment to enhance the colour and quality of the stone.

To own a sapphire which has not been subjected to any heat treatment is a rare and to be treasured.
