In the years that are to come - in the future, the world’s history will treasure the remembrance of these men.” John O’Connell (1811-1858) Irish politician, third and favourite son of Daniel O’Connell, the ‘Liberator’, by his wife Mary, daughter of Dr. O’Connell of Tralee. He was called to the Irish bar at the King’s Inns, Dublin, and from that time took a prominent part in politics with his father, entering Parliament in 1832 for Youghal. Successively representing Youghal, Athlone, Kilkenny, and Limerick, he sat continuously until 1851, and again represented Clonmel from 1853 to 1857.
