107 PATRICK COLLINS HRHA (1910 - 1994)
Heads of Miró in Paris
Set of six drawings framed as one

John Montague in his autobiography mentions bringing Patrick Collins along to an opening at the well-known Galerie Maeght, Rue Tehe-
ran in Paris. Among the major artists that were there was ‘Miró’ and they all adjourned to a nearby ‘friendly cafe’.
“Paddy became very silent, and embarrassed us by producing a little sketchbook, where he began to make rough pencil portraits of his
companions, like a street artist. The artists concerned were a bit disconcerted, but, being French-trained, they were too polite to com-
ment. We questioned him afterwards as discreetly as we could, where he thought he was, and what was he doing. Humbly, Paddy replied,
“I found myself among the gods, and felt I had to make a note of it”.
These presumably are some of the sketches from that night.
