A London artist who first studied in London under William Bromley and later in
Paris under Bonat and Cormon. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, the
Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour becoming R.I in 1886 later becoming
its Vice President. He exhibited occasionally at the R.H.A and once at the Belfast
Art Society.
He was at his best in works such as this, where his robust plein air technique and
colours reflect his Paris training. Works by him are included in many public collec-
tions including the Tate,The Walker, Reading, Rochdale and Sheffield Galleries.
