He studied architecture before turning to painting. Self-taught as an art- ist, Fajardo had his first exhibition at the Institute of Hispanic Studies of Tenerife in 1962. He moved to Madrid in 1964. Fajar- do began working with reliefs made with thin aluminium layers in the late 1960s.
