Zhong Kui, the legendary demon queller known for his fierce appearance and righteous character, is often depicted escorting his younger sister to her marriage. According to legend, Zhong Kui, though highly talented, was denied a government post due to his disfigured appearance and later became a deity tasked with exorcising evil spirits. In the “Zhong Kui Sending Off His Sister” motif, he leads a procession of ghosts and demons carrying bridal gifts, creating a lively and auspicious scene symbolizing protection, good for- tune, and the dispelling of evil during important life events.
