A graduate of the Indonesian Art Institute in Yogyakarta (1979–1985), Sagita is known for his introspective and enigmatic nature, which is reflected in his art. His works often depict Javanese individuals in surreal settings, exploring themes of existential uncertainty, spirituality, and the unseen forces influencing human life. Sagita's artistic style is characterized by a blend of realism and surrealism. He employs realistic painting techniques to portray figures in dreamlike or symbolic contexts, aiming to capture the inner realities and spiritual dimensions of his subjects. His art- works frequently feature recurring human figures in varying poses or situations, symbolizing the complexities of human existence and the interplay between tradition and modernity. Throughout his career, Sagita has participated in numerous exhibitions both in Indonesia and internationally, including the Jakar- ta Biennale and the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art in Brisbane. His contributions have earned him several accolades, such as awards at the Jakarta Painting Biennale in 1987 and 1989, and a silver medal at the Osaka Triennale in 1996.
