H: 11.7cm € 400 - 600 313 A CELADON WHITE JADE AUTHORITY TOKEN 清御製白玉議政大臣令牌 China, Qing dynasty crafted fromHetian jade and rectangular in shape, its top is carved with two facing dragons, symbolizing imperial power, with a central circular hole for stringing and wearing. On the front, within a shallow relief, is a dragon motif along with the inscrip- tion in Chinese and Manchu: 崇德禦覽之寶 禦賜大清議政大臣之令 崇德六年參月 “Treasure Viewed by the Emperor during the Chongde Reign” Imperial Bestowal: Token of the Grand Minister of State Affairs of the Great Qing Third Month, Sixth Year of Chongde (1641)” The reverse bears another inscription in Chinese and Manchu, giving the recipient’s name and the reason for appointment: 崇德禦覽之寶 範文程垂訓端嚴澤堪啟楹貽謀裕作政之方 茲以覃恩加贈爾為議政大臣 “Treasure Viewed by the Emperor during the Chongde Reign Fan Wencheng: His teachings are upright, his virtues profound, worthy of guiding governance and laying foundations for future strategy.
