In wartime, it could be worn over Kuzari Katabira (flexible chain-mail armour). The katana was not allowed to be worn on this occasion, only the Wakisachi. The model shown on the mannequin is also equipped with a natural iron breastplate bordered by a copper Fukurin with the Mon of the Osokawa clan (heraldic emblem) in Uchidachi (embossed). The equipment includes natural iron Kote (half-sleeves), chainmail Suneate (shin guard), Waraji (woven rice straw sandals) and Tabi (cloth slippers). It is accompanied by an identical child’s Kamishimo on mannequin with Jingasa (light lacquered hat) and Tanto Koshirae (sword). Samurai were often asked by the Daimyo to leave a family member behind as a token of loyalty. The Jingasa, the Wakizachi frames and the 2 Kamichimo are decorated with the Osokawa clan Mon. The lot is accompanied by a large Kiri (magnolia) wood box inscribed ‘Pair of Kamishimo’ containing the same fine canvas shoulder garment printed with the same Mon for summer € 1,500 - 2,000
