Adam's Country House Collections Day II - 10th October 2023

41 350 A PAIR OF IRISH RED WALNUT AND PARCEL GILT MIRRORS ATTRIBUTED TO JOHN BOOKER, SNR each with bevelled plate in an auricular surround, the sides with floral pendants, surmounted by a broken triangular pediment, now filled with a displayed eagle. 148 x 80cm Provenance: Christies Adare Manor 9th June 1982, lot 284 (illustrated); Drummin House, Carbury, Co. Kildare The Knight of Glin catalogued these as Irish George II. Since then the productions of the Booker family have been identified in sufficient numbers, making attributions more certain. The present pair, being walnut, suggest an early date and they bear close comparison with the pair of giltwood examples sold recently from Howth Castle dating to c.1738. € 20,000 - 30,000
