224 Country House Col lections COMPRISING: 601 AN ANGLO-INDIAN GILTWOOD TRIPTYCH FLOOR SCREEN, 19TH CENTURY, having twin out-folding panels, opening to a three panel screen, with fabric lined reserves enclosed by borders of tightly carved scrolling foliage, on arched supports with scroll feet. A PAIR OF ANGLO-INDIAN GILT DECORATED CHAISE LONGUE, 19TH CENTURY, fitted with a golden silk long cushion, carved with rows of maple leaves to the back support and apron on short scroll feet. AN ANGLO-INDIAN GILTWOOD SERPENTINE SIDE CABINET, 19TH CENTURY, the fitted top above three pierced panel doors, each carved with entwined scrolling foli- age, enclosing a shelved interior, of a leaf carved outset base AN ANGLO-INDIAN TUB SHAPED ARMCHAIR, 19TH CENTURY, profusely carved with scrolling vines and curled leaves, with silk upholstered seat, on scroll feet; together with another Anglo-Indian occasional chair, the tall back carved with scattered maple leaves, and fitted with upholstered drop in seat. (2) AN ANGLO-INDIAN GILTWOOD UPHOLSTERED STOOL, 19TH CENTURY, of circular form, the stuffed seat covered in a golden silk, above a pierced scrollwork frieze, supported on masked legs with scroll feet; together with a 19th Century circular giltwood footstool, similarly upholstered (2) A ANGLO-INDIAN GILTWOOD CURIO TABLE, 19TH CENTURY, of circular form, with later glazed lift top, enclosing a lined interior, with pierced leafy apron and incurved scroll legs. €30,000 - 50,000 The collection was introduced to Castletown in the 19th Century, possibly shortly after it was made. It appears in the 1893 inventory described as “Bombay” furniture and was again photographed in the Red Drawing room in the Georgian Society Records, Dublin 1913 plate XXVII, where it was given pride of place by the Connolly family.
