A t H ome 85 247 WILLIAM TRAIES (1789 - 1872) ‘Mouth of the River’ &‘Pastoral Scene’ A pair, oil on canvas 94 x 132.5cm One signed, WilliamTraies was born in Crediton, Devon in 1789.Traies took inspiration from the beauty of his surroundings and quickly honed his craft as a landscape painter. He captured the extensive views of his beloved County with great technical accuracy all the while exhibiting a careful handling of paint, particularly in the sky and foliage, in order to create fine celebrations of nature. Traies’ work was not widely exhibited during his lifetime, only exhibiting a handful of times in the RA, however his landscapes furnish the walls of a number of distinguished British Galleries today including theVictoria &Albert Museum. € 3,000 - 5,000
