THE BEWLEY’S CLOCK.
A 19TH CENTURY DUBLIN FUSEE BRACKET CLOCK,
made by McMaster and Son, 91 Grafton Street, Dublin, the ebonised break-arch case surmounted by a brass carrying handle
above fluted quarter-columns with brass capitals flanking an eight-inch white circular dial, set out with black Roman hour
numerals and inscribed McMaster & Son, Dublin, having brass fretwork panels and arched side panels, the entire raised on
brass spherical feet, 48cm high, 32.25cm wide and 17cm deep
Provenance: Purchased by Ernest Bewley for his office when he opened his famous landmark cafe in Westmoreland
Street, Dublin in 1896, and thence by family descent.
