A SILVER HAVDALAH JUDAICA SPICE TOWER,
maker’s mark MX possibly that of Matilda Hel-
sig or M.N. Kharamov, circa 1910, the rectangular
container with filigree sides, with hanging ball and
pennant and suspended flags, surmounted by a plain
conical-shaped tower, the entire raised on a knopped
stepped circular foot
23.5cm high (c.5.5ozs)
Havdalah Besamim spice box’s were used from the
middle of the 19th century. A Besamim spice box
is used during the Jewish holiday Shebat or She-
bat Havdalah and is filled with aromatic spices.
