Marmaduke Coghill (1673-1738) was a member of
Parliament for Dublin University and Chancellor of the
Exchequer in Ireland. From an early age he was involved
in the highest levels of politics and played a prominent
role in parliament, particularly in financial matters.
Never married, Coghill lived in Belvedere House in
Drumcondra before building a fine house on lands at
Clonturk, which was afterwards known as Drumcondra
House, he lived there with his sister Mary until his death.
