82 533 CHEVALIER LOUIS WILLIAM DESANGES (1822- 1905) Posthumous portrait of Lt. Henry Thorold (1835-1854) of the 33rd Regi- ment of Foot, aged 19, three-quarter-length, in scarlet uniform, with the Battle of Inkermann beyond oil on canvas, arched top 125 x 99cm signed with monogram ‘WD’ and dated ‘1855’ Provenance: Mittie Naylor OBE (1859-1953), who married in 1882 Der- rick Westenra, 5th Baron Rossmore (1853-1921), Rossmore Castle, Co. Monaghan, moved to Camla Vale, Co. Monaghan in the 1940s, thence by descent Lt. Henry Thorold (1835-1854) was the son of Henry Thorold (c.1797-1871) and Maria Mansel (1808-1872). He died on 5 November 1854 at the age of 19 at the battle of Inkerman in the Crimea. € 5,000 - 8,000 534 RICHARD BUCKNER (1812-1883) Portrait of Mrs Richard Naylor (née Thorold), full-length, standing, in a grey dress trimmed with pearls, in a landscape oil on canvas 225 x 128 cm signed ‘R. Buckner.f’ Maria Sophia Thorold (1836-1889) was the daughter of Henry Thorold (c.1797-1871) and Maria Mansel (1808-1872). She mar- ried Richard Naylor in 1856. Their daughter Mittie Naylor OBE (1859-1953) married in 1882 Derrick Westenra, 5th Baron Ross- more (1853-1921), Rossmore Castle, Co. Monaghan, moved to Camla Vale, Co.
